Karkhana Custom Bag Works
How an order runs

Eight steps, and none of them are a surprise.

This is the real sequence, with the real durations. Where most factories leave a gap between "sample approved" and "invoice settled", we have put a number on it.

The eight steps

01

Brief & Feasibility

You send a sketch, a reference photo, a tech pack, or a bag you already like. We read it for buildability — not whether we like it, but whether our machines can hold it, and at what cost.

No obligation24-hour acknowledgement1–2 days
02

Specification & Costing

You get a manufacturability review: proposed materials with GSM and denier, a graded size sheet, a costed price band across three volume tiers, and a lead time we will hold to in writing.

Price band, not a list priceWritten lead time2–4 days
03

Pattern & First Sample

Our pattern room grades the design to your size chart, nests the panels in CAD and cuts a first sample. This round proves structure, proportion and hand-feel. Expect it to be approximately right.

04

Revisions & Golden Sample

Two refinement rounds are included. When you sign the golden sample in writing, that physical bag becomes the production standard — every measurement, seam placement and colour is matched against it on the floor.

05

Material Procurement

Body fabric is cut from Erode and Tiruppur mills, zippers and hardware from Jalandhar, trims from Bahadurgarh. Every roll is inspected on arrival for GSM, width, shade and defects before it is released to cutting.

06

Bulk Production

Cutting, stitching, branding, assembly and packing run across eight lines with live work-in-progress reporting. You can ask for photographs of your batch at any point in the run.

07

QC & Pre-Shipment Inspection

Material inspection, in-line checks and a final audit. AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor, on ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. Third-party inspections from SGS, Bureau Veritas or your own auditor are welcome at any stage.

08

Dispatch & Aftercare

Export packing, carton marks, barcodes, country-of-origin labelling and shipping documents. Your production file — patterns, shade references, trims — is archived so a repeat order next season is a re-run, not a re-design.

Quality control

Inspection is a gate, not a gesture.

Material inspection, in-line checks and a final audit, against a written standard agreed at the golden sample stage. Third-party inspectors are welcome at any point.

00

Material inspection

Every roll is checked on arrival for GSM, width, shade and defects. Off-spec fabric is rejected at the gate, not at the bag.

01

In-line checks

Seam strength, stitch density, bar-tack placement and hardware pull force are verified during the run, not after it.

02

Final audit

AQL 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor, on ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. Colour, logo scale and label placement are checked against the golden sample.

03

Third-party welcome

SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or your own auditor can inspect at any stage, at your cost. We do not restrict the window.

04

Barcodes & labelling

EAN, UPC, RFID, country-of-origin and care labelling to destination-market requirement, applied before packing.

05

Export packing

Polybag, hang tag, gift box, master carton and palletisation, with carton marks and shipping documents prepared in-house.

Questions

The eight questions every buyer asks.

Answered without hedging. If something depends on your project, we will say so rather than give a number that will not hold.

100 pieces per style for standard constructions, from 150 for full-custom patterns, and 300 where branding needs its own tooling such as a metal badge. We will not quote a MOQ we cannot hold — if your volume is 60, we would rather tell you now than discover it in week three.
Seven to ten working days for a first sample from an existing pattern, and fifteen to twenty-five where the structure is new and a cutting die has to be made. Two refinement rounds are included before the golden sample. Bulk production runs 20 to 32 days after that approval.
Yes, before the brief is opened. Our NDA is mutual, and we will work to a design ownership clause that assigns the product rights to you on final payment, in writing, before tooling is cut.
We can, with one honest caveat: only on a dyeable fabric. Polyester and nylon are solution-dyed or piece-dyed, and a Pantone match on 600D polyester needs a lab dip and a shade band approved against a physical swatch. Canvas can be piece-dyed to Pantone reliably. We quote a lab dip rather than promise a match off a screen.
ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, Sedex/SMETA 4-Pillar and BSCI are current and maintained. GRS and OEKO-TEX apply to specific material routes and are confirmed at RFQ stage rather than claimed blanket-style. REACH, CPSIA and Prop 65 testing is arranged through a third-party lab on request — we will not put a certificate on a product the test does not cover.
Yes, for most destinations, with a DDP or DAP quotation as standard on export orders. We handle customs clearance in-house through our CHA and pass the landed cost through without a margin on the freight.
Every project, without exception. You get a graded size sheet with tolerances, a bill of materials with fabric GSM and hardware specs, a stitch map, a branding placement sheet, and a nesting layout. The tech pack is yours — it is also what lets another factory make the bag if you ever want a second source.
We archive your patterns, shade band, trims, labels and packaging files. A repeat order is a re-run against the golden sample, so a bag made in 2026 and a bag made in 2029 come out of the same shade band. That archive is why our second-year pricing is usually better than our first.

Send the brief in whatever form you have it — a sketch, a photo, a tech pack from another factory, or a bag you like. We will tell you what it will take to build it.
